"Barcelona" nurtured one of the most promising academy graduates within its ranks.
It is announced on the official website of the Catalan team that 19-year-old midfielder Carles Alena, who has so far played for the second team, has signed his first professional contract that will be valid for the next three years.
C. Alena, from the current "Barcelona" academy, is considered the most promising player with the potential to replace Andres Iniesta in the future.
The Spaniard, playing in the central midfielder position for the main team, played four matches last season, although he only got a total of 40 minutes of playing time in the Spanish league.
Meanwhile, with the "Barcelona B" team, C. Alena played 23 matches in the third division of the Spanish league, scored three goals, and provided seven assists.
