Throughout Europe, an incident made headlines when Sulley Muntari received a yellow card after urging the referee to stop the match in the 90th minute due to racist insults from fans. The 32-year-old former Ghanaian national team footballer left the field protesting against the referee's decision and the ongoing racist insults from a small group of fans.
It was revealed that Muntari received a second yellow card for leaving the field prematurely, a fact unknown to anyone, and for this reason, he will be forced to miss the next "Pescara" match in the Italian league. The "Serie A" disciplinary committee stated that only a small minority of fans were involved in the insults, prompting drastic measures to be taken.
Muntari received a lot of support from his former teammate Kevin-Prince Boateng, who also left the field in friendly matches back in 2013 due to a racist attack. Boateng posted on his Twitter account that he is proud of Muntari.
