Until the end of the season, with just over a month left, unexpected changes occurred in the coaching staff of Vilnius "Žalgiris" club. The head coach Igoris Pankratjevas and his assistant Viačeslavas Sukristovas are leaving the team.

Such news was confirmed today (Wednesday) by "Žalgiris" president Arminas Narbekovas, who stated, "We terminated the contract by mutual agreement and parted ways amicably."

When asked who will lead the team until the end of the season, A. Narbekovas replied, "Me and Mindaugas Čepas (one of the coaches working in the team). Currently, we don't have a suitable candidate. Moreover, there is only a month left until the end of the season and 6 matches, so it's not worth inviting a new coach who probably wouldn't want to lead the team for such a short time."

The club president confirmed that he will take over the duties of head coach until the end of the season, and they will search for a new strategist after the championship ends.

Former legendary "Žalgiris" player I. Pankratjevas took over the reins of the capital's team at the end of last year and prepared the rejuvenated team for the season, but conflicts with referees were blamed for his work as a coach in the club - he was disqualified for 15 matches for attacking a referee at the end of April.

Currently, "Žalgiris" in the A league championship occupies the sixth position with 40 points after 30 matches and is nine points behind Vilnius "Vėtra" in the third position.
