The Lithuanian U16 girls' national team finished their performance in the UEFA Development tournament in Moldova on Tuesday.

In the final match, the Lithuanians defeated the tournament hosts, the Moldovan footballers, after a penalty shootout (full time - 2:2). It is worth noting that the Lithuanian team lost 0:3 to the Romanian footballers in their first match, but then won 3:1 against the team from the Faroe Islands.

In the first half of Tuesday's match, the Lithuanians created good chances - one shot shook the crossbar, and the opponents were also saved by the goalkeeper, but no goals were scored in the first half, and the teams went into the break with a 0:0 score.

However, after the break, the Lithuanians finally managed to break the opponents' defense - first with a goal from substitute Gabija Malakauskaitė, and then with an impressive penalty kick by the team captain Austėja Jokubaitytė, giving Lithuania a 2:0 lead.

However, the hosts quickly reduced the deficit to 1:2 with a precise shot. The game later calmed down, and the action was mostly in the middle of the field.

With a little over ten minutes left to play, the Moldovan team scored a second goal to equalize the score. In the last minutes, the Lithuanians tried to create a siege on the opponents' goal, but they could not score a winning goal, leading the match to a penalty shootout.

In the penalty shootout, Ema Daujotė saved two penalties, the opponents missed once, and the Lithuanians scored all three of their shots, winning the match.
