The dating portal "Beautiful People" has selected England's national team striker Wayne Rooney as the ugliest football player in the world championship, mistakenly believed to be the captain of the national team.
"The ugliest team is Algeria," said portal representative Greg Hodge. "For many of the players on this team, the name 'revenge' would be fitting.
"Not far behind them is England, whose captain (actually Steven Gerrard - ed. note) is the ugliest in the world - Wayne Rooney. The English have beautiful wives or people, but it is obvious that this is due to their deep pockets, which make the players much more attractive."
The most beautiful player was recognized as the Italian Fabio Cannavaro, followed by the two Spaniards: Fernando Torres and David Villa. American Landon Donovan came in fourth, fifth - the rarely played Frenchman Thierry Henry.
