Ukraine's national team, preparing for the upcoming World Championship, suffered a serious loss - Kiev defender Sergiy Fedorov will not be able to help the team due to a thigh injury.

This news was announced on Monday by the capital's club.

According to Dynamo's coach Anatoliy Demyanenko, the player will be unable to play for about three months, as stated in the club's announcement.

Ukraine's head coach Oleh Blokhin expressed his concern last week about the injured team leaders, including S. Fedorov and AC Milan star Andriy Shevchenko.

The coach then mentioned that the national team has very few alternatives in the defender position, especially on the right defensive flank.

Meanwhile, the Russian news agency RIA quoted A. Shevchenko, who hoped to recover as soon as possible from his knee injury.

"Regarding my injury, I hope to start training soon so that I can get in the required shape before the championship," said Andriy Shevchenko, considered one of the best European forwards.
