On Sunday, the England national team will try to avoid an unpleasant surprise in the Euro Championship quarter-final match.
Gareth Southgate's team will face Slovakia, who have been creating unexpected outcomes in the tournament.
Prior to the upcoming match, the English media highlighted the future match referee Halil Meler.
A few months ago, the 37-year-old Turkish referee was involuntarily thrust into the spotlight worldwide when he was attacked during a Turkish league match.
The incident took place in a "Super Lig" match between the teams of Rizespor and Ankaragucu, when the president of Ankaragucu, Faruk Koca, assaulted the referee and struck him in the head.
The club was fined 60,000 euros and had to play five home matches behind closed doors. Later, F. Koca resigned from his position.
