The United States national team suffered a 1:2 defeat to the Honduras national team and failed to qualify for the third consecutive Olympic Games. The last time the USA national team participated in the Olympic Games was in 2008 in China. In the match against Honduras, they had to play without some of their country's brightest stars. "Of course, we are very disappointed, and the situation on the field shows what a tragedy has occurred. Everything would be different if other team members who play in Europe could help us, but the current situation is what it is," said national team strategist Jason Kreis.
