The USA demanded to extradite seven detained FIFA officials

The United States has requested Switzerland to extradite seven officials of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) detained on suspicion of corruption.

Extradition requests were submitted on Wednesday, as reported by bbc.com. Swiss law enforcement officials and lawyers will have two weeks to respond to the US request.

On May 27th, in the luxurious "Baur Au Lac" hotel in Zurich, Swiss police arrested 7 FIFA officials.

In total, there are 14 defendants in the case. All of them are charged with corruption, fraud, and money laundering.

The suspects were supposed to take care of football and its development, but they abused this trust in order to enrich themselves. It is claimed that over 24 years officials laundered 150 million US dollars.
