Edinburgh continues to lead the Scottish championship. On Wednesday, in the 12th round match, they defeated "Kilmarnock" 1-0, with the only goal of the match scored by the Lithuanian national team striker.
In the match, which was started not only by E. Jankauskas but also by D. Cesnauskis, "Hearts" dominated, but the Edinburgh club managed to score only one goal. It was Lithuanian E. Jankauskas who scored in the 35th minute with a shot from about 15 meters after a pass from Rudi Skacel. This victory allowed "Hearts" to win their second consecutive victory under interim coach John McGlynn, maintain a series of 12 consecutive unbeaten matches, and increase their points tally to 32.
Meanwhile, multiple Scottish champions Glasgow "Celtic" players continued to climb on the heels of the Edinburgh club, crushing "Motherwell" 5-0. The winners were led by Bulgarian Stilian Petrov who scored a hat-trick, followed by goals from Shaun Maloney and Japan national team goalkeeper Shunsuke Nakamura.
On the other hand, defending champions Glasgow "Rangers" had to settle for a surprising draw against underdogs "Livingston". Although the Glasgow club led with 2-0, the home team managed to secure a 2-2 draw.
Currently, "Rangers" are in fourth place with 21 points, while another Edinburgh club, "Hibernian", moved up to third place by defeating "Dunfermline" 2-1. In the last Wednesday's matches, "Falkirk" convincingly defeated "Inverness CT" with a score of 3-0, and on Tuesday, "Aberdeen" won at home with a two-goal margin against "Dundee Utd".
