The youth of Liverpool failed the "Aston Villa" test.

On Tuesday evening, the first quarter-final of the English League Cup was played.

Teams of "Aston Villa" and "Liverpool" grappled for a place in the semi-finals. These matches were somewhat unusual, as none of the first team players helped the "Reds." This happened because the main squad went to Qatar, where they are playing in the FIFA Club World Cup semi-final on Wednesday.

In these matches, "Liverpool" relied on youth - the average age of the players was 19 years and 182 days.

The youth of "Liverpool" bravely started the match, but soon they were punished for their mistakes.

"Aston Villa" settled all matters in the first 45 minutes - scoring four goals in the first half. Jonathan Kodjia scored two, Conor Hourihane and an own goal by Morgan Boyes added one each.

In the closing moments of the match, substitute Wesley scored the fifth goal.

"Liverpool" bid farewell to the tournament after their defeat, but this Saturday they will have a chance to fight for another trophy - the FIFA Club World Cup.
