The club, which returned to Spain's top division ("Primera") after a 39-year hiatus, has started negotiations with the captain of the Greek national team, Theodoros Zagorakis. The 32-year-old player, who was named the most valuable player in the recent European Championship in Portugal, was released from a club facing serious financial difficulties.

"The negotiations are going well and should be completed by Thursday," said representatives of Levante.

This summer, Levante has already attracted two footballers - Ian Hart and Johan Mjallby. Negotiations are also underway with the Czech national team's defender Karel Poborsky.
