After an unexpected defeat in the Basque derby, Jose Maria Amorrortu was dismissed from his position as head coach of Vitoria's "Alaves" team in the Spanish championship.
On Sunday, "Real Sociedad" suffered a 3-1 loss to another Basque team, "Alaves," in Vitoria. This defeat was already the eighth away loss of the season for "Real Sociedad." After this setback, "Real Sociedad" currently occupies the 15th position in the Spanish championship with 22 points after 21 matches.
This season, the team from San Sebastian is the worst defending team in Spain, having conceded 42 goals in 21 rounds.
J.M. Amorrortu took over as head coach of "Real Sociedad" in June 2004, replacing the Frenchman Reynaldo Denoueix. Under Amorrortu's guidance last season, the Basques finished in 14th place.
On Monday, the head coach of "Malaga," Antonio Tapia, was also dismissed.
