Niko Kovač's game against Thiago in a not very important German cup duel against modest "Rodinghausen" club cost dearly.
In the duel, in which the Bavarians triumphed with a score of 2:1, Thiago suffered an injury halfway through the second half. The Spaniard played from the very beginning of the match, but an unsuccessful episode will keep him away from football for a month.
"Bayern" confirmed that the midfielder suffered a tear in the ligaments of his right ankle, forcing him to sit out for four to six weeks.
The 27-year-old player is very important for N. Kovač's team this season - he has already played 14 matches, scored two goals, and made one assist.
"Bayern" will have to cope without Thiago in a quite important confrontation against Dortmund's "Borussia". The BVB team, currently in first place, will host the Bavarians on November 10th.
