Although initially it was decided to keep silent about the incident in the match report, on Monday additional information was sent to the organizers of the qualifying tournament.
The president of the Argentine Football Federation, Armando Perezas, was not prepared to defend the team's superstar: "If his behavior crossed all boundaries, he should be punished like any other player.
Lionel cannot be judged by other criteria due to his global status as a football player."
However, if the punishment is indeed given, L. Messi would probably miss not today's match against Bolivia, but the meeting with Uruguay scheduled for August.
