UEFA officially confirmed three footballers who will compete for the title of the best player of 2015 in Europe on August 25th.
The list - a small surprise. None of the representatives of "Barcelona" ended up among the top three footballers in Europe. Among the three candidates, there was no place for either Luis Suarez, the top scorer in "La Liga", or the best player in the world Lionel Messi.
Antoine Griezmann ("Atletico"). Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale (both from "Real") - three footballers who are contenders to win the title of player of the year in Europe. Interestingly, all three footballers play in Spain and in the same city teams.
This should not be a big surprise, as it was "Real" and "Atletico" who competed in the UEFA Champions League final, and Cristiano Ronaldo and Antoine Griezmann - in the final of the 2016 European Championship. Meanwhile, Gareth Bale managed to lead Wales, a team without big and prominent stars, to the semifinals of EURO 2016.
Among the 10 candidates, in addition to the aforementioned five, were also Gianluigi Buffon, Pepe, Thomas Muller, Manuel Neuer, and Toni Kroos.
