Three Moscow stars - Brazilian forward Jo and defender Daniel Carvalho, and Russian defender Vasily Berezutskiy - have suffered injuries, so they will most likely miss the first Champions League match of the army club.

Vasily Berezutskiy suffered his injury on Sunday warming up before a Russian Premier League match in Yaroslavl against the local side "Shinnik," which the Moscow club barely won 0-1. Tests showed that the 24-year-old defender has problems with his groin, so he will undergo surgery in Munich later this week.

The most productive player in the Premier League, 19-year-old Brazilian Jo, who has scored 14 goals, will also travel to Munich with Berezutskiy, as he suffered a left knee injury during the Champions League third qualifying round match away at "Ružomberok" last Wednesday. After the surgery, Jo will probably need at least three weeks of rehabilitation, which he will most likely spend in his native Brazil.

The forward's teammate, 23-year-old defender Daniel Carvalho, is already back in his homeland, recovering from an undisclosed injury.

CSKA will start their Champions League Group G campaign on September 13, when they face Porto in Portugal.
