In the English Premier League, the defender of the team that took 9th place, Linvoy Primus, and the two midfielders Gary O'Neil and Richard Hughes will undergo surgery.
The 33-year-old center-back L. Primus, who was one of the standout players for Pompey this season, will have an operation to cure him of knee pain.
"Linvoy injured the ligaments connecting the surfaces of his knee and this problem bothered him until the end of the season. So he needs to fully fix it," Portsmouth club physiotherapist Gary Sadler told "The News."
Meanwhile, midfielders R. Hughes and G. O'Neil are experiencing discomfort at the site of bone growth on their ankles and, like L. Primus, will undergo surgery in Basingstoke. It is expected that these players will return to pre-season training.
"We have prepared good physical conditioning programs for our team players this summer," explained G. Sadler. "For some who are recovering from injuries or surgery, there are exceptions and their program will become more challenging over time. As the pre-season matches approach, players who have had injuries will train earlier to be ready until others return to the lineup."
At the beginning of this week, Pompey confirmed that defender Sol Campbell will no longer need surgery for his torn Achilles tendon.
Other players - team captain Dejan Stefanovic, midfielder Matthew Taylor, and defender Lauren - suffered injuries in the last Premier League match against Arsenal, but should recover and join the team in pre-season training starting in July.
