Madrid's "Atletico" decided to keep experience in their team and extended the contract with 35-year-old defender Tiago for another year. A member of the Portuguese national team almost missed this season due to a leg fracture he suffered at the end of last November. However, the defender returned to the field over the weekend when "Atletico" defeated Vigo's "Celta" at home and will go to the UEFA Champions League final with the team. Tiago's contract with "Atletico" was supposed to end this summer, but "Rojiblancos" decided to use the services of the Portuguese for another season. "It's good news that he is staying," said the club's sports director Jose Luis Caminero. "He is the player who brings experience to the field. He is very important to this team, so we are all satisfied." Tiago joined "Atletico" in January 2010. In the Spanish capital's team, the Portuguese has played 186 matches and won six titles.
