Brazilian football legend Pele believes Lionel Messi's chances of winning the most prestigious trophy - the World Cup are still alive.
The 27-year-old forward was just a step away from his dream last summer, but all cards were shuffled by the German national team.
"Of course, Messi can still triumph in the World Cup. He is a very versatile player, maintaining excellent athletic form.
"I have no doubt that he will impress with his performances in other planetary competitions," - assured the Brazilian.
"Losing in the final did not damage Messi's reputation, he is an excellent footballer. I have no doubt that in Russia the forward will have another chance.
"Perhaps he could have played better in Brazil. However, both Argentina and my country in the past had many footballers who did not win this trophy," said Pele.
