30-year-old defender Thiago Silva of the Brazilian national team feels hurt that the captain's armband was taken away from him.
The Paris Saint-Germain player was the main defensive pillar and captain in the 2014 World Cup. However, when Dunga took over the national team, the captain's armband was passed on to the young Neymar.
"Honestly, I didn't expect that," T. Silva said at a press conference. "I would be lying if I said it didn't bother me. I feel like something that belonged to me was taken away. It's painful and very sad."
"No one even came to talk to me after that decision. Neymar was also indifferent. But we have to be ready for everything, and that was something to be expected," the defender said.
T. Silva lost not only the captain's armband but also his place in the starting lineup after the arrival of a new coach.
"I have to be ready for a role as a substitute. We have great players like David Luiz and Miranda. Of course, I hope that everything will fall back into place," added the Brazilian.
