Londono "Tottenham" defender Toby Alderweireld recently signed a new contract with the club and put an end to all speculation about a possible departure.
The 30-year-old Belgian put his signature on a contract that will be valid until the summer of 2023, but revealed that he decided to stay in the team not only for better financial conditions.
"The club made a financially good offer and showed me great respect. Perhaps elsewhere I could have earned more, but I showed my loyalty to the team.
I asked my wife, who is expecting our second child, what she wants to do. She said she likes living in London, but the decision is mine to make.
This allowed me to consider all the offers presented and make the best decision," Alderweireld said in an interview with the "Sunday Telegraph."
The center-back has played 24 matches this season with the "Spurs," but has not scored any goals.
