This trophy is contested by the winners of the Champions League and Europa League matches. "Barca" in the final of the elite continental tournament last year overcame the Turin "Juventus" team with a score of 3:1. "Sevilla" in the decisive match of the second most powerful European tournament defeated "Dnipro" from Dnepropetrovsk with a score of 3:2.

Today will be the 40th, anniversary, UEFA Super Cup match. For the first time in the history of these two matches, the same clubs will meet in the field. "Barcelona" and "Sevilla" competed in 2006. Sevilla's footballers unexpectedly defeated their opponents 3:0.

The Andalusian team lost twice in the UEFA Super Cup matches. The Catalan team won the trophies four times (the last time in 2011). Barcelona lost the same number of matches.

"Sevilla" fought for the UEFA Super Cup last year as well - they lost 0:2 to Madrid's "Real" footballers. The title was won the most times (five times) by "Milan".

The winners of the UEFA Super Cup will receive 3 million euros, and the losing team will receive 2.2 million.

Last season "Barcelona" became the champion of Spain, while the Sevilla club finished fifth and narrowly missed qualifying for the UEFA Champions League. In a match between the teams in the "Primera" league, Sevilla took away two points from "Barca" at home - the match ended 2:2. However, at the "Camp Nou" stadium, Luis Enrique's players defeated their rivals 5:1.

In Tbilisi, the Catalan club will suffer serious losses - forward Neymar, who is sick with mumps, will not play. Also, the defender Jordi Alba, who suffered an injury, and the team's new signing, midfielder Arda Turan, will not appear in the field due to FIFA's ban on registering new players.
