Top 5 Liverpool Managers of All Time © AFP

Almost nine years ago, German Jurgen Klopp arrived in Liverpool and achieved an almost impossible feat - he brought glory back to Anfield stadium.

Before his arrival, Liverpool was in a state of self-ridicule, not pleasing the fans with impressive victories.

Upon joining the club, the strategist worked his magic to turn the Reds into one of the most powerful European football teams.

Thus, J. Klopp created another elite team of winners, who triumphed in both local competitions and the UEFA Champions League.

However, all great things come to an end at some point. J. Klopp announced the end of his work in Liverpool, and the upcoming offseason will be crucial in the club's history.

The future coach will have to create a new team of winners, which may not include some of the current leaders - Mohamed Salah, Virgil Van Dijk, or Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Throughout Liverpool's history, several legendary managers worked at Anfield without Klopp.

Which managers are considered the best in the club's history?

Their top five consists of Joe Fagan, Kenny Dalglish, Jurgen Klopp, Bob Paisley, and Bill Shankly.

Each specialist's contribution to the team's history is simply immeasurable - without these managers, the club could not boast a rapid ascent to the top, as well as 19 Premier League titles and several UEFA Champions League trophies.

Bob Paisley

The strategist responsible for Liverpool's dominance in the 1970s and 1980s. After working as a coach for 17 years, Bob Paisley finally became the main team manager.

He led the club for nine years - in a period of complete dominance where Liverpool won six English league titles, three league cups, three European cups, one UEFA Cup, and one UEFA Super Cup.

As a Liverpool manager, B. Paisley won 20 titles and established himself as one of the greatest British coaches of all time.

Joe Fagan

Joe Fagan will forever be one of the most beloved figures in the club's history. He initially joined the Liverpool reserve team and held this position for 13 years.

Later, he was part of the main Liverpool team - serving as an assistant to coach B. Paisley.

After more than two decades, J. Fagan finally had the opportunity to lead the English team.

The club's leadership decision paid off big time: J. Fagan became the first Englishman to win the treble: the English championship, League, and European cups.

Kenny Dalglish

One of the biggest personalities in the club's history. The specialist contributed significantly to the team's success as a player and as a coach.

Eventually, he became the first player-manager in the club's history and continued his success path with the Reds, winning three Premier League titles and two FA Cups in six years.

Daglish later briefly returned to the coaching position in the 2011-2012 season, but miracles were not performed.

Jurgen Klopp

He spent less money compared to his main rivals and still managed to find the key to success.

The German triumphed in the Premier League, reached the Champions League final three times, and won once.

The club also enjoyed titles like UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup, League Cup, Community Shield, and FIFA Club World Cup under his management.

J. Klopp is the main reason why Manchester City faced fierce competition in the league and did not turn the championship into a one-horse race.

Bill Shankly

Although Bob Paisley achieved historical success in Liverpool, it probably wouldn't have happened without his predecessor Bill Shankly laying the groundwork. Shankly joined Liverpool at a time when the club was struggling and needed several improvements, especially in terms of infrastructure.

Bill managed to change everything and lay the foundation for future success. Over 15 years, the team won the second division and rose again to the highest ranks, where they later celebrated three champion titles.

Although Shankly didn't add as many trophies to Liverpool's cabinet as Paisley, his influence on Liverpool was much greater than trophies, and he is undoubtedly one of the best coaches in the club's history.
