UEFA has announced three candidates who will compete on August 30th for the title of the best football player in Europe.
In the list - a somewhat unexpected twist: there is no Barcelona and Argentine football star Lionel Messi. The forward did not have the best season in the UEFA Champions League, which may have contributed to this result.
The trio includes representatives of both Champions League finalists - Luka Modrić, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Mohamed Salah.
C. Ronaldo became the top scorer of the Champions League last season with 15 goals. He also managed to win the Champions League trophy, making him the favorite for this vote.
The winner will be announced along with the group stage draws.
