London newcomer Fernando Torres insists he will refrain from joyful emotions if he scores in Sunday's match against Liverpool. Just a few days ago, the Spaniard left the Liverpool team and moved to the capital, and will debut in the central game of the tour tomorrow with his new team.
When asked if he would celebrate if he scored, Torres said at a press conference: "First I have to play, then score a goal, so a lot has to happen before that. But I have a lot of respect for Liverpool fans, so I probably won't celebrate."
The forward also praised his former team: "About Liverpool, its people and especially the fans, I can only say nice words and absolutely nothing bad. I spent more than three wonderful seasons there and will never speak ill of the club.
"I understand that fans will be angry and not understand my decision. Maybe I won't reveal all the reasons, but I would like to start talking about the future. I'm not asking to be understood, but I hope that what I did for the team during my time there will be taken into account - I want to be judged fairly."
