Fernando Torres became the fourth most expensive football player on the planet after moving to London for €58.5 million on Monday.
Speaking in his first interview after signing a five-and-a-half year contract, the Spaniard said: "Every footballer's goal is to play for one of the best clubs in the world. Chelsea is one of them, as they always fight for all trophies."
"I am proud and very happy to be here," continued Torres, who will be able to play in the knockout stages of the Champions League.
"The last two, three or four days have been very tough for me. But now I am ready for new challenges. I know there are many great players in the team and I will have to fight for a place on the field.
"I really like the other forwards in the team. When I was young, I remember watching Nicolas Anelka, who was then playing for Arsenal. And Didier Drogba is the best forward in the world. It will be a big responsibility for me to play alongside players of this level."
And he added: "My dream is to win the Champions League. I am sure that with Chelsea we can achieve that."
