On Saturday, seven matches of the 15th round of the English Premier League were played.
The first match took place at the "Stamford Bridge" fortress, where London's "Chelsea" hosted "Newcastle". The "Blues" conceded the first goal, but bounced back and achieved a comfortable victory.
In the 12th minute, Dwight Gayle put "Magpies" in front, but already in the 21st minute Eden Hazard restored the balance. Shortly after, the "Blues" took the lead - in the 33rd minute Alvaro Morata scored a header.
In the second half, the victory was secured by the same E. Hazard, who scored in the 74th minute from a penalty earned by Victor Moses.
"Chelsea" temporarily caught up with "Manchester United" in second place. "Newcastle" is currently in 12th place.
In other matches, "Liverpool" crushed "Brighton". Jurgen Klopp's team left no chance for their opponents by winning 5-1 on their field.
In the first half, the "Reds" scored two goals - Emre Can and Roberto Firmino found the net. The same Brazilian scored another goal at the start of the second half, but soon the opponents reduced the deficit with a penalty. However, at the end of the match, two more goals came from "Liverpool", with one of them scored by Philippe Coutinho.
Mauricio Pochettino's London "Tottenham" is still struggling. After four matches without a win, the "Spurs" played a draw of 1-1 with "Watford".
In the 13th minute, Christian Kabasele put "Hornets" ahead with a header, but in the 25th minute Heung-Min Son equalized. At the start of the second half, "Watford" gained a numerical advantage when Davinson Sanchez received a red card, but the hosts failed to turn it into a victory.
"Tottenham" remains in 5th place with 25 points, trailing the leaders by a 15-point margin. On the other hand, "Watford" is only one win behind them.
In another match, Sam Allardyce made a winning debut for "Everton" against "Huddersfield", winning 2-0.
The remaining matches ended with victories for "Leicester" and "Stoke City", and a goalless draw between "West Brom" and "Crystal Palace".
