Mauricio Pochettino confirmed in the press conference that London's "Tottenham" will use the extension clause in Toby Alderweireld's contract.
The 29-year-old defender, whose future has been speculated since last season, had a contract with "Tottenham" until the end of this season, but it included an option to extend the cooperation for another year - until 2020.
T. Alderweireld will not become a free agent, but in the summer he will still be quite easily accessible to clubs interested in him.
It is reported that from now on, there will be a £25 million buyout clause in the Belgian's contract.
