On Wednesday, the fifth round of matches in six UEFA Europa League groups were played, after which the fate of London's Tottenham in the tournament hung in the balance.
Harry Redknapp's protégés suffered a 1-2 defeat to Salonika's PAOK in front of their own fans, while in the same group, Kazan's Rubin thrashed the points-less Dublin Shamrock Rovers 4-1 at home.
London's club, currently in third place in the group standings, would extend their stay in Europe if they manage to defeat an Irish team away in two weeks and PAOK at home does not drop points against Rubin.
Furthermore, Tottenham's players must ensure that if results go their way, the difference between goals scored and conceded is better than the Russians.
Besides PAOK, Liege Standard, Hannover, Eindhoven PSV, Warsaw Legia, Kharkov Metalist, Braga, and Madrid Atletico have already secured their spots in the Europa League last sixteen.
