"He just wants to send me to the 'Cardiff City' club because he will get a lot of money. He wants me to go there and no one cares about what I want. Money is the only thing that matters to him," - these were the words of the tragically deceased footballer Emiliano Sala, published before the accident in the investigation by "L'Équipe". The 28-year-old Argentine became a tool for Franco Kito, the son of the owner of the "Nantes" football club, to earn 15 million euros. The footballer was sold to the "Cardiff City" team on January 19, but it ultimately turned out that such a transfer cost him his life. The striker flew out of Cardiff after signing documents and returned to Nantes to pick up personal belongings and say goodbye to his friends and club staff. However, he never reached the Welsh capital and never started playing in the Premier League. On January 21, E. Sala boarded a plane, a "Piper PA-46 Malibu," from the French city of Nantes to Cardiff. The aircraft disappeared from radar screens about 20 km north of the island of Guernsey. The pilot of the plane, who was alone with E. Sala, was Dave Ibbotson. Official search efforts for the crashed plane were called off after several days, so E. Sala's relatives hired a private company to continue the search, which led to the discovery of wreckage and the footballer's body a week later. It was revealed that the footballer was not afraid to move to 'Cardiff City', but he also did not have a burning desire to do so. He was offered a significantly more lucrative contract, but E. Sala was not interested from a football perspective. "It's true that the contract is good, but I'm not very interested from a football perspective. I'm not afraid to move to Wales because I have always worked hard in my career. My agent also did not want me to go there. But I don't hide my desire to sign a better contract and leave the 'Nantes' club," - said E. Sala to his relatives before the tragic flight.
