French national team striker David Trezeguet once again stated that he wants to join Barcelona club. It is believed that his place in the Juventus team could be taken by Christian Vieri.
"I can't wait to move to Barcelona," the Frenchman told a Spanish sports newspaper. "I dream of lifting 100,000 fans at Nou Camp on their feet, and the club has an ambitious project."
"Juventus club wants to earn as much as possible by selling me. I want the sale to be completed before the European Championship, as everything has been postponed so far due to the new coach issue," Trezeguet said.
If Trezeguet is sold, the new Juventus coach Fabio Capello would like to have a tall striker in his tactical scheme. The most realistic candidate is former Juventus player Vieri, who had several conflicts with Inter Milan coach Alberto Zaccheroni. It is said that the Milan club would be willing to sell their best player if Juve offered in this deal.
A couple of days ago, Trezeguet did not spare criticism for Juventus: "The club gave its word, but did not keep its promises. They should not have behaved like that. I have shown my abilities and now it's too late for them to agree to my demands."
The Frenchman was probably unhappy that the club did not offer him a better contract. The player's current contract is valid until 2005.
