Lionel Messi became the best FIFA player of the year for the second time in his career.
In 2022, the 35-year-old forward led Argentina to victory in the World Cup after a 36-year break.
In the elections, the Argentine defeated two Frenchmen: Karim Benzema and Kylian Mbappe.
It was a triple triumph for Argentina in these FIFA awards: Emiliano Martinez was chosen as the best goalkeeper of the year, and Lionel Scaloni as the best coach of the year.
The best female football player was Barcelona's representative, Alexis Putellas, who won this award for the second year in a row.
