Portugal's football star Cristiano Ronaldo can breathe easier - he no longer faces a prison sentence for possible rape.
Prosecutor Steve Wolfson announced on Monday that there was not enough evidence to prove that C. Ronaldo actually raped a woman.
It is impossible to prove the guilt of the Turin Juventus striker, so he will not face any charges for allegedly raping Kathryn Mayorga in 2009.
C. Ronaldo's lawyer had previously mentioned that his client and K. Mayorga had consensual sex, but it was done by mutual consent.
It was also reported that after the girl's allegations, C. Ronaldo paid her $375,000 in hush money in 2009.
