This evening, football fans will experience a special event – the radically revamped start of the UEFA Champions League.

The portal "EuroFootball.lt" briefly reminds visitors of the changes in the new tournament.

From now on, a common group will be formed in this level, in which 36 teams will compete. Each of them will play eight matches in the regular season – four at home and four away.

The eight best teams will once again secure places in the knockout stage, while teams finishing in 9th to 24th places will continue to compete for this right in a tournament based on knockout principles.

The knockout stage, quarter-finals, and semi-finals will take place as usual – clubs will play one match at home and one away. The final will be held at a neutral venue.

Unlike previous seasons, the Champions League's lower-ranked teams will not advance to the Europa League tournament and will end their season in Europe.
