London's "Arsenal" Thomas Vermaelen flew to Catalonia to undergo a medical examination and sign a contract with "Barcelona" club.
The 28-year-old Belgian rejected an offer from "Man Utd" and will move to the "La Liga" giant club for 15 million pounds sterling.
In the last two seasons, T. Vermaelen could not secure a place in the starting lineup of the "gunners", as the central defensive duo in the "Arsenal" ranks was formed by Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny, so the Belgian appeared on the field not very often.
The footballer moved to "Arsenal" in 2009 from the Amsterdam "Ajax" team. At that time, he cost "gunners" 10 million pounds sterling.
