Two Athens team players - Yiannis Okkas and Mihalis Kasapis - were attacked yesterday by 150 masked club fans during training.

While the club fans were rampaging the team's building, smashing cars nearby and stealing personal belongings, other "AEK" players managed to hide in the changing rooms. The club fans expressed their anger because the team players rejected the club's rescue plan suggested by former team striker Demis Nikolaidis. It is said that the club's debts amount to 100 million euros (more than 345 million litas). Nikolaidis's plan was simple - players are paid too high salaries and they need to be reduced, at least temporarily, until the club recovers financially.

If "AEK" does not improve its financial situation, the club may be relegated to the 4th division.
