In Spain, an unprecedented event has been recorded - two footballers will travel behind bars due to arranged matches. It is reported that former "Real Betis" footballers Xavi Torres and Antonio Amaya, who have been found guilty of match-fixing in the final matches of the "La Liga" championship in the 2013-2014 season, will be sentenced to a year in prison. It was revealed that both players received 400,000 euros for ensuring victories in the last matches against "Real Valladolid" and an additional 250,000 euros for intentionally losing to "Osasuna" in a relegation battle. "Real Betis" defeated "Real Valladolid" 4:3 and lost to "Osasuna" 1:2, but this did not help the latter to maintain their place in the league. The former general manager of "Osasuna" has also been found guilty and will spend up to eight years in prison. In total, nine individuals will be going behind bars. This is the first time in Spain that individuals have been sentenced to imprisonment for arranging matches.
