Vilnius „Žalgiris“ confidently advanced to the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday. The Lithuanian champions defeated Belfast's „Linfield“ team with a score of 2:1 on the road, winning the whole series with a total score of 5:2. The residents of Vilnius settled the matter in the first half: in the 17th minute, Saulius Mikoliūnas scored with a great shot, and in the 44th minute, Ogenyi Onazi made an equally impressive shot from outside the penalty area. The situation of „Žalgiris“ got a bit complicated in the 64th minute when Eldhaji Diawas played with his hand in the penalty area and was sent off the field. Chris Shields, who converted the penalty kick, narrowed the hosts' lead. In the 89th minute, Karolis Uzėla also received a red card, leaving the residents of Vilnius with two players less to finish the match. Nevertheless, this did not prevent the Lithuanian team from securing a ticket to the next stage.
