Despite ongoing rumors about Blaise Matuidi's departure, Paris Saint-Germain coach Unai Emery wants the midfielder to stay in the current team.
Several media reports claimed that the new French champions' coach is not impressed with the French player's performance and that Matuidi even traveled to England during EURO 2016 to discuss a possible move to the Premier League.
However, Emery considers the 29-year-old player a key part of the team, even after the arrival of Grzegorz Krychowiak from Sevilla.
"Matuidi is a fantastic player and belongs to PSG," reiterated the Paris club's manager in a press conference. "He will join the team later because he is playing with the French national team in the EURO 2016 final. We are looking forward to his return."
"He is a great player, so it is logical that I do not want to part ways with him."
"The situation being discussed by everyone now is that the team currently has many midfielders and one of them may leave. However, as a coach, I am on his side, waiting for his return to the team. Circumstances may change this, but essentially, it is not my wish."
Last season, Matuidi played 31 matches in Ligue 1, scoring four goals and providing six assists.
