U. Emery: "Teams will need to prepare for the season anew"

Unai Emery, like most of his colleagues, believes that after the coronavirus crisis is managed and championships can be resumed, players will need a new preparation stage.

It is planned that championships in Europe will be resumed at the end of April or beginning of May. This means that football players will be without competitive practice for a total of 2 months.

"The fairest thing would be for all teams that are returning to finish seasons to have as much time as during summer preparation. This could be 7, 10 or even 14 days," said U. Emery, who is currently unemployed.

"In this situation, I would trust those responsible for the players' physical condition the most - doctors and fitness coaches. They will be the ones to determine the players' physical preparation when they return after the break," the strategist said.

U. Emery agreed with another well-known coach, Gus Poyet: "Some preparation will be inevitable, as players can't train now. I'm talking about real training - intense running and playing with the ball."
