UEFA announced on Wednesday that the referee for the Champions League final will be Dutchman Bjorn Kuipers.

In this season's final, two teams from the same city will compete - "Real" against "Atletico". The European champion will be determined on May 24th.

The 41-year-old referee was in charge of the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup final between the national teams of Spain and Brazil. The Dutchman also refereed last season's Europa League final.

Kuipers received his FIFA qualification in 2006. In total, he has refereed 68 UEFA matches, and this season he has officiated in four Champions League and three Europa League games.

Kuipers will be assisted by his fellow countrymen assistant referees. They are Sander van Roekel and Erwin Zeinstra.
