Milano lost the right to host the 2027 UEFA Champions League final.
The decisive tournament match was set to take place at the "San Siro" arena, but due to the city's uncertainty about whether it would be able to adequately host the participants of the sports event, it was decided to reopen the application process.
The Milan football arena may undergo renovations, as the country won the right to host the 2026 Winter Olympics and the 2032 European Football Championship.
According to UEFA, the decision to announce a new competition was made due to the lack of guarantees.
The 2025 Champions League final will be held at Munich's "Allianz", and in 2026 – at Budapest's "Puskás" arenas.
