UEFA coefficient race: Germany took a big step forward © Reuters

It's time worth calculating UEFA coefficients. Two countries whose teams perform the best in the 2023-24 season will receive two additional spots in the 2024-25 Champions League. In total, they will each have 5 representatives.

This week two German clubs performed well in Europe. "Bayer" beat "West Ham United" 2-0, while Munich's "Bayern" played a 2-2 draw with "Arsenal." However, "Borussia" lost 1-2 to "Atletico" club.

It was not the most impressive week for Bundesliga teams, but their main competitors in the UEFA coefficient, the English teams, were greatly disappointed.

The first two results were mentioned earlier. "Manchester City" played a 3-3 draw with "Real" away, while "Liverpool" lost 0-3 to "Atalanta." Only "Aston Villa" won 2-1 against "Lille."

After this week's results, Germany surpassed England, and Italy came closer to securing a place among the top two teams. They only need a draw from "Atalanta" and a win from "Fiorentina" to settle this matter.

A win for "Liverpool" and "West Ham" next week would benefit England, regardless of whether they can advance to the next stage of the Europa League or not.

Germany would greatly rejoice in "Bayern's" triumph against "Arsenal" in the return leg.

There will be much more clarity in this situation after the return leg matches.
