After the Champions League battles, UEFA announced the symbolic 18 players of the tournament of the season.
As expected, the symbolic team consists mostly of representatives from the Madrid "Real" club, whose players make up almost half of all selected players - 8 champions are represented. The finalists, Liverpool footballers, have three representatives in the symbolic team.
The best tournament goalkeepers are Keylor Navas from Real and Brazilian Alisson from Roma.
Three Real representatives - Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, and Raphael Varane, Bayern's Joshua Kimmich, Juventus veteran Giorgio Chiellini, and Liverpool's Virgil Van Dijk, who joined the team midway through the season, made it into the top defenders.
Among the midfielders, Real's Casemiro, Luka Modric, and Toni Kroos dominate, along with Kevin de Bruyne from Manchester City and James Rodriguez from Bayern. Interestingly, the player who made the most assists in the Champions League this season (9), Liverpool's James Milner, did not make it into the 18.
In addition to Barcelona and Real stars Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, the attacking line also includes Liverpool's Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah, as well as Roma's Bosnian Edin Dzeko.
