UEFA lost the battle against PSG club in the case of financial violations

Katar's billionaire Nasser Al-Khelaifi could finally breathe more easily on Tuesday - his Paris Saint-Germain won the battle against UEFA in the financial fair play case.

The International Court of Arbitration for Sport granted PSG club's lawyers' lawsuit against UEFA for closing the case that had been started over a year ago.

UEFA had started an investigation into the club's breach of financial fair play (FFP) rules. Serious sanctions were looming over the PSG club - the inability to acquire players for several consecutive transfer windows and a monetary fine. The Parisian club would have had to sell at least a few of its stars this summer due to these sanctions, but it seems they will now be able to avoid it.

UEFA has also launched another investigation into PSG club - this time regarding the approximately 250 million euros spent in the summer of 2017 when Neymar and a few other new players were brought into the team.

Kylian Mbappe also arrived that summer, but PSG did not have to pay for him in the first year - the transfer only came into effect in the summer of 2018, with Monaco receiving a sum of 145 million euros.
