UEFA President: "Playing behind closed doors is better than cancelling the season altogether" © JumpStory

UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin is determined to safeguard the 2019-20 season at all costs. The European football chief is convinced that clubs will manage to finish this season. Čeferin is even willing to wait until the end of summer just to officially announce the winners of the tournaments. Speaking to the Italian media, Čeferin stated that finishing the season in empty stadiums is a very real idea. "Our priority is the health of the fans, players, and coaches," the UEFA president told "Corriere dello Sport." "By nature, I am an optimist, so I believe we will find a way to finish the tournaments that have already started. Maybe we will have to play without fans, but the most important thing is that the matches take place. I imagine that most people would be happy to once again see live sports broadcasts on their television screens," Čeferin said. It has been previously announced that UEFA plans to extend its tournaments until August 8th.
