UEFA started an investigation into PSG's team for possible rule violations

UEFA has confirmed that it has initiated an investigation into the actions of the "Paris Saint-Germain" team this summer. It is suspected that this team may have violated financial fair play rules.

According to the provisions of financial fair play rules, a new rule has been in effect for clubs since 2013 – team expenses over a three-year period cannot exceed 30 million more than the club's revenue. PSG's team has already failed to comply with this rule once, and in 2014 they could only register 21 players in the Champions League due to the penalty imposed.

It seems that the Paris team may again have to violate this rule, after this summer they acquired Neymar for a sum of 222 million euros and committed to spend another 180 million euros next summer to reach the release clause for Kylian Mbappe's transfer to the team. Observing such actions of the team in the transfer market, UEFA hastened to announce that it had initiated an investigation into possible violations of PSG rules.

"UEFA will focus on the team's financial results and will seek to evaluate all the documents submitted by this club in order to determine whether PSG has violated UEFA's financial fair play rules.

UEFA wants to emphasize that financial fair play rules are considered very important and only by them can the financial stability of European clubs be ensured," said UEFA in a statement.

Meanwhile, the "Paris Saint-Germain" team did not delay announcing that their club is surprised by such actions taken against them. Representatives of the French club are convinced that they have not violated any rules and emphasized that they have communicated with UEFA financial committee representatives to ensure the fairness of their actions.

"The club is surprised by such actions, considering that even without having to do so according to the rules, they voluntarily submitted not only the club's but also their players' financial actions. The club is confident that they will be able to prove that they did not violate the financial fair play rules in the 2017-2018 season.

On August 23, the team's manager, Jean-Claude Blanc, met with UEFA experts and financial committee chairman Andrea Travers at the PSG headquarters and demonstrated all the actions taken with "Barcelona," showing that they did not violate any UEFA rules.

On August 31, the club's management once again communicated with the UEFA financial committee, demonstrating how the deal with "Monaco" club will be carried out, how it will affect the team's finances, and proving that this transfer was made in compliance with all French accounting standards.

In addition, in the summer of 2017, the team added 104 million euros to their account by selling players belonging to their club. Furthermore, the club wants to remind that they have signed contracts with many highly valued footballers, whom in the event of need, the team could sell in the next two transfer windows – until the period when PSG must settle with the UEFA financial fair play committee for the 2017-2018 season," emphasized in the statement released by the "Paris Saint-Germain" team.

Recently, there has been information that when settling for the period of 2015-2016, PSG submitted documents showing that the club earned 10 million euros during this period.
