UEFA urges countries to finish championships, otherwise smaller clubs will suffer © JumpStory

On Thursday, UEFA held another conference of all member associations, where the fate of the 2019-20 season continued to be discussed. According to the BBC, during the conference UEFA urged representatives of all countries to "find all possible ways" to finish the season. Two European countries with fairly high UEFA rankings did not heed the calls - the Netherlands and Belgium, where the championships had already been suspended. If the season is not extended and more countries follow suit, then UEFA would have to figure out how to allocate places in the next season's Champions League and Europa League tournaments and qualifying matches. If European league championships do not reach the finish line, then the responsibility will fall on the shoulders of football federations, which will have to decide which clubs will be delegated to UEFA tournaments. In such a situation, according to the BBC, the Spanish Football Federation would delegate clubs with the highest rankings to the Champions League. This would be based on the results of the last five years of European tournaments for each club. This scenario would be favorable for the Madrid "Atletico" club, which remained in sixth place when the season was suspended, but would provide competition for the Madrid "Real" and "Barcelona" clubs based on rankings. In this case, two other clubs would be left out - San Sebastian's "Real Sociedad" and Madrid's "Getafe", who have each earned 46 points and are ranked 4-5. For the same reason, the door to the Champions League would also open for the "Manchester United" club, which, based on rankings, would push out London's "Chelsea" from the fourth position. However, as stated in the UEFA report, "the absolute priority must be given to finishing the championships."
