UEFA: we are not against rainbow colors © AFP

UEFA organization tries to calm passions. Yesterday it was officially announced that during the European Championship match between Germany and Hungary, rainbow colors will not be allowed to light up the Munich stadium. In response to the disturbance, UEFA decided to publicly express its position: "UEFA is proud to be able to use rainbow colors. It is a symbol embodying our core values, promoting everything we believe in - a fairer and more equal society, tolerant of all, regardless of their origin, beliefs, gender, or sexual orientation. Some people described UEFA's decision to reject Munich's request to illuminate the stadium with rainbow colors for the EURO 2020 matches as "political". On the contrary, the request itself was political, related to the presence of the Hungarian national football team in the stadium for tonight's match against Germany. The UEFA rainbow is not a political symbol, but a sign of our strong commitment to a more diverse and inclusive society."
